The Story Behind the Ripples

Laugh and cry as we follow the inspiring journey of Australia’s pioneering female swimmers. There are setbacks! There is betrayal! But ultimately the feisty women make history and stay true to themselves. We follow their friendship, their rivalry, their struggles against sexism, and the journey that took them to the 1912 Stockholm Olympics to compete in the 100 metres freestyle.

The musical is narrated by Annette Kellerman, a competitive swimmer and entrepeneur, who modernised women’s swimwear and became both a health guru and Hollywood movie star.
